Merlijn began his career organizing metal shows and tours, but after founding a nightclub in 2011, he became increasingly involved in the world of dance music. In 2018, he was appointed Nightmayor of Groningen. As leader of the Groningen Night Council, member of the Dutch Popcoalitie advisory board, as well as former fellow-member of the European Music Council, Merlijn is dedicated to balancing the formal policy-making world with the raw underground music culture.
